My birth church always had its own drum set. My current church has its own set. Except for a 1 year stint at a little baptist church, my home set has not traveled for much of its 8-yr life. When I followed the music leader to church services elsewhere, that church always had its own set.

This past Sunday, I tore the set down and took it to a friend's house. It was a practice session in prep for recording for her gospel album. Man that thing is a pain!

This has me seriously pondering an electronic set now. Or maybe I need some groupies to follow me around. :)

This is why the Practise is always at My Place. Or I just bring my Snare and Hi Hat.
Even with all the "QuickSet" hooks/clamps/locks/sockets/etc.... it's a pain to get setup again.

Although a tempting option, I have yet to find an Electronic set that really Feels and Sounds like the real thing.

Which leaves a current opening for any groupies out there looking for a drummer to follow around.

When I was playing in a band non-stop for 3 or 4 years, this was my biggest dread. I hated setting up and tearing down. When I finished playing in bands, I instantly put on 5 extra pounds. I credit it to not having the exercise that carrying case after case in and out of clubs. It was always so nice to have someone around that was willing to help, which only seemed to happen at shows closer to home town. I still had to do the actual setting up of the kit because no one else knew how to get it just right.

One of the pitfalls of being a drummer. Setting up and tearing down.I used to play a 6 piece double bass set on the road. So It was nice to get a six month gig as a house band once in a while and leave 'em set up. I am still paronoid about electronic sets and the possibilities of parts failures while playing live. I guess it's just me.
